I gather my inspiration from people, experiences, thoughts, daydreams and all sorts of day to day activities. When I want to make a statement to the viewer or a viewer I usually develop a canvas through research of a subject and with thought and vision of what I want to say. Almost always the canvas morphs into a mixed media event for me which I truly love to create. The following is one of my favorite statements from someone that had recently viewed my home studio and a number of my abstract paintings: "Making sense of Tom's abstract core would be to wither into dream state unaware of previous nurtured conditions. Pieces such as 'Red Husk' will make any desensitized observer realize he just abondoned himself." My art attempts to reflect 'everyday life' and the influence of our environment. Pace of life and associated emotions are important to memorialize.
